DA LAT HAS MORE CAFES THAN SENSE — HERE ARE THE ONES THAT DESERVE YOUR MORNING
Da Lat has a cafe problem. Or a cafe blessing, depending on how you look at it. There are more coffee shops per square kilometer here than anywhere else in Vietnam, and new ones open every month with increasingly elaborate themes. Most of them brew mediocre coffee in beautiful rooms.
This list filters for both — places where the coffee is actually good AND the space is worth sitting in. Because in Da Lat, a cafe isn’t just where you drink coffee. It’s where you sit with the mountain air, listen to the pine trees, and remember what slow mornings feel like.
1. La Viet Coffee
- Address: 200 Nguyễn Công Trứ
- Hours: 7:00–21:00
- Price: 35,000–65,000 VND
You’ll smell it before you see it — the dark, heavy aroma of roasting Arabica drifting down the street. Inside, it’s an open-plan warehouse where the hiss of the espresso machine echoes off exposed brick. The air is cool, but the warmth of the mug in your hands grounds you in the highland morning.
2. Cafe Tùng
- Address: 6 Khu Hòa Bình
- Hours: 7:00–22:00
- Price: 30,000–55,000 VND
The smell of old wood, tobacco, and strong black coffee hangs thick in the air. You sit on faded leather booths, listening to French music from the 1960s crackle softly from old speakers. It feels like stepping into a time capsule where the city’s chaotic modern pace simply dissolves.
3. Túi Mơ To
- Address: Hẻm 31 Sào Nam
- Hours: 8:00–17:30
- Price: 40,000–70,000 VND
Perched high above a valley, the wind here carries the sharp scent of damp pine needles and earth. You sit outside, looking down at the mist swallowing the greenhouses below. The silence is only broken by the breeze, making every sip of hot coffee feel like a meditation.
4. The Married Beans
- Address: 44 Hùng Vương
- Hours: 7:30–21:00
- Price: 45,000–80,000 VND
Step inside this beautiful wooden workspace and you are immediately wrapped in the rich, earthy scent of freshly ground specialty beans. The minimalist, timber-heavy architecture feels warm and deliberate, creating a quiet sanctuary for deep focus. You hear the precise clink of ceramic and the low hum of whispered conversations.
5. An Cafe
- Address: 63Bis Ba Tháng Hai
- Hours: 7:00–22:00
- Price: 30,000–55,000 VND
Hidden behind a wall of creeping vines, the courtyard smells like wet leaves and garden soil after a rain. Wooden chairs, worn smooth by years of use, sit under the glow of yellow fairy lights. The ambient noise of the street fades into a gentle hum, leaving you perfectly hidden in plain sight.
6. Horizon Coffee
- Address: 31/6 Ba Tháng Tư
- Hours: 7:30–22:00
- Price: 45,000–75,000 VND
Sit on the balcony as the sunset turns the sky into bruised purple and fiery orange. The evening breeze sweeps up from the pine valleys, cool and biting against your face. You grip your hot drink tighter as the sprawling, cinematic view makes you realize just how high up in the mountains you really are.
7. The Shelter Coffee
- Address: Hẻm 39 Triệu Việt Vương
- Hours: 8:00–21:00
- Price: 40,000–70,000 VND
Tucked away in a steep valley, the vibe here is rugged and bohemian, anchored by massive canvas tents. The air smells like woodsmoke and roasted coffee, while indie acoustic tunes blend with the sound of wind rushing through the gorge. It feels like a secret campsite where the coffee is inexplicably excellent.
8. Windmills Coffee
- Address: 7 Ba Tháng Hai
- Hours: 7:00–22:30
- Price: 35,000–65,000 VND
The smell of butter and baking pastries hits you the moment you walk through the door. It’s a bright, green space where the light pours in through large windows, warming the wooden tables. The cheerful hum of local students and travelers makes it feel instantly welcoming and alive.
9. Dalat Train Villa
- Address: 1 Quang Trung
- Hours: 7:30–18:00
- Price: 40,000–65,000 VND
Set inside a restored vintage train carriage, the space smells faintly of old metal, polished wood, and strong espresso. You look out the window at the misty valley, listening to the creak of the floorboards as the barista walks by. It is deeply nostalgic, pulling you back to a forgotten era of highland travel.
10. Thông Ơi
- Address: Hẻm 31/8C Ba Tháng Tư
- Hours: 7:00–21:30
- Price: 35,000–60,000 VND
Suspended on a wooden deck in the middle of a dense pine forest, the isolation here is absolute. You smell nothing but the crisp, resinous scent of thousands of pine trees swaying in the cold highland wind. The acoustic music is faint, letting the sound of the rustling branches and the warmth of your coffee do the talking.
